Greene County veterans and their guests visited the Iowa Gold Star Museum on Camp Dodge in Johnston on April 15.
Mike Bierl, Greene County veteran service officer, and the Greene County veterans commissioners arranged the grant-sponsored trip as a veteran outreach to Greene County veterans.
After a brief museum tour and a box lunch from The Centennial in Jefferson, those on the trip heard veteran representative presentations by Brenda Safranski, special assistant for veterans and military affairs at Sen. Joni Ernst’s office, and Wayne Merick, veteran outreach program specialist at the Des Moines Vet Center. Bierl also briefed the attendees on program changes and recent benefit updates.
